This GPS unit is my very first. I did as much research as I could and decided I wanted a dependable unit that did a good job of giving directions and was not loaded up with camera, MP3 player and all the stuff that has nothing to do with navigation. I, also, wanted to be able to carry it if hiking. When I found the Garmin Nuvi 255W I knew that was the one to buy. Now that I have it I am firmly convinced I made the right choice. If you don't want a bunch of bells and whistles this GPS unit stands above the others. It is, also, two to three times cheaper than the latest gizmo. It gives great voice activated directions. Kudos to Garmin for this product.
